About Us

Coastal Track Club was established in 2010 by Scott Kent and draws track and field athletes from White Rock, Surrey, Richmond and Delta for recreational and competitive categories. The club specializes in Sprints (100m and 200m) Middle Distance (400m to 1500m) and Distance (1500m to 10,000m) as well as Jumps and Hurdle events. Athletes compete in the following age divisions: Track Rascals (6-8 yrs.), Junior Development (9-12 yrs.), Bantam (12-13 yrs.), Midget (14-15 yrs.), Youth (16-17 yrs.), Junior (18-19 yrs.), Seniors (20-34 yrs.) and Masters (35+yrs.) All ages of athletes are welcome. Coastal offers both competitive and non-competitive programs.

Coastal Track Club strives to provide each athlete the opportunity to reach his or her full potential by developing athletic speed, endurance, and strength as well as fostering high self esteem, personal accountability, self-discipline, work ethic, goal setting, and goal achievement. Coastal Track Club seeks to develop well-rounded individuals who learn not only the fundamentals of athletic training but also the importance of education in an atmosphere conducive to developing sound character.

Objectives

  • To be a leader in Track and Field with strong ties to the community promoting and developing the sport within the region
  • To cooperate with other groups, agencies, and organizations at the national, provincial and local level that have as goals; the development or use of track & field as a competitive sport, as a means of general athletic development, recreational activity, or as a means to foster health
  • To provide technical and administrative leadership and direction to all elements of the sport
  • To provide an environment that promotes the improvement of our coaches and assists in providing opportunities for the mentoring and growth of new and existing coaches
  • To establish a progressive/effective system of athlete development that ensures the conditions necessary to produce, on an ongoing basis, athletes of the ability required for Canadian teams in international competition
  • To create and maintain an enjoyable and productive training environment To encourage athletes to learn, train, and compete at their highest level of achievement
  • To encourage positive mental attitudes and mutual respect
  • To maximize opportunities for athlete's to participate in a quality program with special attention paid to their educational growth and physical welfare
  • To maximize opportunities for athletes to acquire positive values from their competitive experience and life skills enrichment program which will enhance their preparation for a productive life
  • To be a leader in providing equitable programs and opportunities for athletes and staff which exemplify the highest principles of gender, ability and cultural equity
  • To provide the atmosphere for participants to realize the importance of others, personal dignity, individual rights and the value of cooperative teamwork
  • To attain personal and team goals
  • To encourage the motivation and commitment necessary for academic success
  • To foster the highest standards of ethical conduct, fair play and sportsmanship
